Twenty-nine-year-old Aditya Kumar, a marketing executive, was conned in Sector 7 on October 31. However, he filed the FIR only a week later on November 8.
Aditya had put up his 2017-model KTM Duke 200 bike (KA01-HY3145) for sale on Quikr. At around 3.20pm, a person came to his apartment complex on 21st Cross after looking at his advertisement online.
On the pretext of taking his bike for a test drive, the person took all the vehicle documents from Aditya and never returned. Citing the value of his vehicle at Rs 1.96 lakh, Aditya has filed a police complaint and the cops have registered a case of cheating and are investigating.
Eshwar Reddy who owns Praneet Mobile LLP in HSR Layout has accused his CEO of cheating the company worth Rs 20.04 lakh.
According to the FIR lodged at the HSR police station, the company based on 11th Main Road in Sector 7, had sold 254 mobile phones worth Rs 43.15 lakh. Harish Appanna, the 42-year-old CEO was supposed to have deposited this amount into the company bank account.
However, he allegedly deposited only Rs 24.05 lakh. In addition, he failed to deposit the company’s Konanakunte branch’s cash reserves of Rs 53,000. Also, Rs 41990 that was allegedly paid to the CEO through Paytm was not transferred to the company account. In all, the CEO is alleged to have defrauded the company of Rs 20.04 lakh. Curiously, though this financial transaction happened between July 18, 2018 and September 1, 2018, the FIR was only lodged on November 6, 2018.
The cops have filed three cases against the accused under IPC 1860 (U/s-406,408,420).
A 38-year-old Sadashivanagar resident has alleged that he was defrauded of Rs 8.64 lakh by a chit fund firm in HSR Layout, Sector 6.
The scam began in January this year when Mohammed Shahid Shariff came across Chandrashekar Gupta Gala, the MD of a company called SR Blue Chips. The accused allegedly promised to give Shahid 1-2% daily returns on any amount of money he deposited. Enticed by the offer, Shahid and his wife Amreen gave money via RTGS in instalments between January 17 and February 9, 2018 totalling Rs 8.64 lakh.
For the first ten days, the FIR says that the accused gave them returns and suddenly stopped. When asked over the phone, Chandrashekar and his two male partners said they would not only give Shahid all that he had invested but also a bonus of Rs 25 lakh in August 2018.
However, when not a rupee came their way after August, the couple realised that they were conned by the firm and filed an FIR at the HSR police station on October 30, 2018. A case has been registered against the three accused under the Prize Chits & Money Circulation Schemes (Banning) Act, 1978, Karnataka Protection of Interest Depositors Exorbitant Act 2004, and IPC 1860.

A house on 14th B Cross, 17th Main in Sector 4 was burgled between October 28, 5.45am and October 30, 9.30am. Nobody knows the exact time of robbery as the burglary came to light when the inhabitants were on a trip to Tirupati temple. The FIR was registered at the HSR police station on October 30 at 4pm.
Fifty-eight-year-old Panduranga Rao was residing with his family on the first and second floor of his house in Sector 4. At about 5.45am on October 28, the family left home after locking up their house to visit Tirupati. On October 30, they received a phone call from someone known to them that their house appeared to be broken into. By 9.30am, Panduranga’s younger brother Srinivas rushed to the HSR home to find that the front door was broken into and valuables worth over Rs 2.5 lakh were stolen. Some of the lost items were gold jewellery, comprising necklaces, chains, earrings and rings, and cash worth Rs 25,000.
A case under IPC 1860 is registered and the HSR cops are investigating.
A thirty-six-year-old doctor fractured her leg when she was hit by another two wheeler on Outer Ring Road near Agara flyover.
At around 7am on October 24, Dr Amrutha Chauhan was near the exit ramp of Agara flyover on Outer Ring Road in front of Green Bar & Restaurant when another speeding two wheeler rider collided with her vehicle. She fell on the road along with the scooter, causing grievous injuries to her right leg.
One of the passersbys called for an ambulance and she was rushed to Columbia Asia hospital for treatment as an inpatient. A case of rash and negligent driving against Keshava, the rider of Honda Unicorn (No KA01-JA7581) is lodged by the HSR cops.
Dr Amrutha is a resident of Mantri Sarovar apartments in Sector 4. “I am still in the hospital,” Dr Amruta told Residents Watch. “Since it’s an open wound as there are multiple fractures and the bone had come out, the doctors are keeping me under observation before they can discharge me.” Recalling the incident, she said, “I was riding on the Agara flyover. I came on to the main Outer Ring Road and gave an indicator to move right and just when I was proceeding towards it, I was suddenly hit by a vehicle from behind.”
Two wheeler thefts are quite common across HSR as the last 45 days of our reportage has shown. However, this is a first in the last 1.5 months. A car has been stolen in Sector 2 and no less than the Toyota Innova which is costlier than the average cars on the streets.
B Venkatesh, a 60-year-old resident of 24th Main, 25th Cross in Sector 2, HSR Layout, parked his 2014-model of Innova (Reg No KA01-ML5013) in front of his house at around 6.30pm on October 24. When he woke up the next day and went out to check on his car at around 6.45am, it was nowhere to be seen. An FIR was lodged the same day at 945am and the cops are investigating.
Sector 2 resident and civic activist Lalithamba BV has done something brilliant. Two weeks ago, she reported to the cops about an abandoned vehicle in front of Somasundrapalya Lake in front of Isha Lakefront View apartments. She even checked out the owner’s name on the transport authority’s website.
“The cops said that they don’t have a towing vehicle then,” said Lalithamba. She followed up a week after her complaint, and the cops said that they are fetching more details on the vehicle from the Road Transport Organisation (RTO) before deciding on their next step.
She followed up again today, and found that half an hour before her call, the cops had towed away the car to an empty site next to Bandepalya Police Station in Sector 3. “The cops said that perhaps the thief ran out of fuel and abandoned the stolen vehicle, never to return for some reason,” said Lalithamba.
We called Electronic City traffic inspector Mariswamy, and he had this to say: “Since it was abandoned for such a long time, it appears to be a stolen vehicle. However, the Bandepalya police guys are supposed to verify and confirm.”
A few days later, the car owner was traced online by another resident
Car owner traced in Brussels by HSR resident
The mystery of this car is now unravelled, this time by another HSR resident Shrinivas Deshmukh who did some nifty social media lookup to contact the real owner of the car. In a Facebook chat, car proprietor Rajesh Kallayel says that he’s in Brussels and had kept his car at his friend’s place who never informed him that the car was stolen. He was indeed planning to sell his car and had hired a person to prepare all the papers. “But he stole my money and is not giving my RC book. It’s a mess,” car owner Rajesh told Deshmukh. Delaying the issue further is that he is only coming to Bangalore in February. Until then, the Mahindra Renault car will remain abandoned at the Bandepalya police station in HSR Layout, Sector 3.
It may be recalled that another HSR resident (you can read our earlier story) Lalithamba BV had pursued the traffic police to remove an abandoned vehicle in her vicinity for over two weeks. Since no complaint was registered against the vehicle, the cops took their time and eventually shifted it to the Bandepalya police station premises where it’s still lying abandoned. The cops speculated that it could be a stolen vehicle. And then resident Deshmukh finds the owner on social media and alerts him to the stolen car.
Here are the screenshots of the conversation that followed between him and the car owner.
On the morning of October 19, at around 6.15am, 47-year-old Muniyallappa was riding his two wheeler on Bellandur Service Road from the Cafe Coffee Day end towards Bellandur.
When he approached Bhagini restaurant, 26-year-old Siddeshwar, a cab driver, allegedly driving rashly hit him so hard that the victim fell on the road along with his bike. He had injuries on his leg and back. Interestingly, the cab driver himself called for an autorickshaw and took him to the nearby Sakra Hospital for treatment.
This is the second instance where the culprit has also played a good samaritan by attending to the victim immediately in the last two weeks. It also makes sense because if not treated immediately, the patient could die and the culprit could be behind bars for a longer time. However, a case is registered against the cab driver for rash driving and causing agony to the victim.
