'Private bus stand at Silk Board to cause more pollution' 1

To weed out the issue of rampant parking by private bus operators and restrict them from entering the city, the transport department has decided to set up three private bus stands around the Outer Ring Road, including Silk Board. Senior bureaucrats have already asked the officials to figure out the government land around these parts to set up the stands. However, the residents are not happy with this development.

“It means pollution and traffic congestion at Silkboard will significantly increase,” says Mohan Govindiah of Namma Teacher’s Colony group. “The residents are requested to plant more trees to curb both air and noise pollution. If not, be prepared to spend Rs 2100 per day for oxygen cylinders (Rs 700 each as a normal human being needs 3 per day). Think about it.”

Mohan and his group of residents give away saplings on people’s birthdays in their neighbourhood, including their corporator and MLA. That’s the way they are doing their bit to green the planet. Will you?
