Some basement shops on 27th main road that were recently shutdown by BBMP have opened for business again. While a few of them are observing the law, several others are openly defying the law.
After shutting down nearly 70 shops on this road after serving closure notices, the BBMP forcibly shut a few while the other shops voluntarily closed for business.
However, with pressure mounting on the BBMP top brass, the High Court order implementation was halted for a while, so that the other shopkeepers get some time to relocate their business.
The BBMP officials told Residents Watch that they have received complaints about shops reopening again without their approval. “We will act after the Joint Commissioner gives us the go-ahead,” said one official.
