The Rs 21 crore Jayadeva flyover is being demolished from today to make way for the Metro line. Parking and traffic restrictions have already begun. Sources say that the demolition would take a month and will largely be done at night without the use of explosives. Trucks will be stationed to remove the debris overnight to avoid traffic snarls and pollution.
Barring BMTC buses, ambulances and two-wheelers, traffic will be prohibited to every other personal or commercial vehicle between 18th main of Marenahalli Road and 29th Main of BTM Second Stage. Cars, private buses, trucks, autorickshaws, tractors and so on can instead cross the ORR through 16th Main and 29th Main of BTM Second Stage. However, there is no traffic restriction in the underpass connecting Diary Circle and Bannerghatta Road, in both the directions.
Parking is prohibited on all the main and cross roads on Marenahalli Main Road between 18th Main to Central Silk Board, such as 36th Cross, 28th main, East End Road, Tavarekere Main Road, 29th Main, 16th Main and 7th Main of BTM Second Stage. No parking will be allowed all through the day and night.
The almost 15-year-old flyover connecting RV Road to Central Silk Board is being erased for an elevated road and rail corridor with the Jayadeva junction functioning as an interchange station.
