Residents Watch made its first appearance in the winter of 2012. It will turn five this October. Much has changed in HSR Layout ever since for better and worse. The neighbourhood has become a magnet for rapid commercialisation, something that Indiranagar and Koramangala experienced earlier. With wide roads planned as a model neighbourhood by the Bangalore Development Authority (BDA), HSR Layout is the neighbouring residents’ envy. But that distinction is soon fading away with illegal buildings galore, rampant encroachment of footpaths by shops and eateries, contamination of storm water drains with sewage and kitchen discharges from eateries and homes, and ofcourse our inept and corrupt civic agencies.
Residents Watch has been recording all of this and more for the last five years. We have not wavered in our mission to give you the best, without favouring any particular caste, creed, political party or business interest. We have pioneered neighbourhood magazines in the country – there are tourist magazines dedicated to cities, but there aren’t any residential magazines in the country that are meant only for a certain neighbourhood.
Now, we want you, dear reader, to be part of it. Tell us what you love about Residents Watch. Get as specific as you can get. Also give us a laundry list of complaints, if you have any. Importantly, give us constructive suggestions on how we can better our product. If you want to start a franchise in your neighbourhood, we are ready to help you with editorial support too.
