By CITIZENS GROUP FOR BETTER GOVERNANCE
We are a group of citizens who wish to bring to the notice of the public and government officials that better systems of governance need to be immediately put in place. We believe that a citizen’s fundamental right to fresh air, sunlight and fire-safety has to be monitored by the BBMP and its officers in a non-partisan and fair manner to all the citizens of the land. Instead, the burden has fallen on the common man to fight for this basic fundamental right, in court, with threats facing us all the time. We are against the fact that this area is ruled by mafia of money-power, clout of political powers, and bribes, which hinder the BBMP officers from doing their duty.
Our goals are the following…
1. Create a mass movement of anonymous citizenry who can join together to fight against violations of building byelaws for the rights of all citizens through the media, films and advertising.
2. Create a pool of information of violations which can be used by the media to interview and pull up the administrative machinery to do their job and demolish the violations.
3. Make public all the violations in our common pool.
4. Raise funds for all the social media/ advertising work that we need to do.
We will not be going to the Courtroom or BBMP office directly. Your violation grievance will be anonymously posted online by you and from there, we expect the media to take it up to put sufficient pressure on Officers, Chief Minister etc to demolish the said violation. We want a policy change that makes the BBMP culpable for building violations that they have allowed as well as work out a system that rewards citizens who have followed all the byelaws.
You can join our campaign in one of the following ways…
1. Put your case-study with all details for follow-up by the Press.
2. Support and promote this campaign by joining Facebook and joining our sign-in campaign to take to the Chief Minister and BBMP Commissioner.
3. Support us monetarily to afford the advertising, Media and cost of personnel.
4. Start individual campaigns for this which steam roll into a massive protest that will cause the policy change we want to see.
