HSR Layout is considered one of the posh areas of Bangalore, but the recent flooding exposed its poor underground infrastructure. Not that its groundwork is better off.
Being an election year, MLA Satish Reddy cannot afford to sit idle while the neighbourhood goes from bad to worse. My wish-list for him…
1. Clear all the drains in HSR and ensure they have a clear pathway to the main storm water drain (Rajakaluve). Take care of any impediments to ensure there is no more flooding in HSR when it rains rhinos.
2. Eradicate footpath encroachments by eateries and other commercial vendors.
3. Take action on buildings that have violated the bylaws and built excess floors with no adequate parking. To begin with, he should target buildings with five floors and above.
4. Fix the potholes scientifically, so they remain that way for atleast a year.
5. Take up insecticide fogging (fumigation) in a big way to avoid the occurrence of dengue, malaria and other diseases.
6. Install all the 100 CCTVs promised in January this year by the MLA and bring down the crime in the area with regular patrolling across the neighbourhood.
7. Eradicate pigs that have grown in numbers due to complete inaction.
8. Replace the old sewage and water pipes with new ones to stop leakages and frequent contamination.
9. Remove illegal speed bumps and erect scientifically proven speed humps at every traffic-heavy intersection in the whole of HSR Layout.
10. Only give the BBMP Grounds in Sector 2 for sports and sports-related activities.
