Laptop stolen in 5 minutes; 9 bikes stolen in 18 days!

Never leave your belongings out in the open even for a few minutes. One person discovered this harsh lesson when he lost his laptop kept on his bike. Similarly, HSR Layout has become a hotbed of bike thefts. Whether you park them in front of your house or inside your compound, or anywhere you visit in HSR, your bike is ripe for the picking. In 18 days, 9 bike thefts were reported stolen at the HSR police station. The thefts occurred between June 28, 2019 and July 16, 2018.

GONE IN 5 MINUTES

Beware! There are thieves loitering about everywhere in HSR Layout. Ajaya Gopal, a 36-year-old resident of Koramangala learnt this the hard way. On Jun 26, 2019, he parked his two wheeler opposite McDonald’s on 14th Main in Sector 3. The time was around 8.20pm. When he returned to his bike after about five minutes, one among the three bags he had kept on his bike had vanished. The bag contained his company’s Lenovo laptop, a pair of headphones and a towel. The cops have registered a case of theft and are investigating.

BIKE THEFTS GALORE ACROSS HSR LAYOUT

The first incident occurred on the night of June 28 on 26th A Cross, 26th Main, Sector 2. Shivaprasad NS, a resident of Yelahanka, had parked his Royal Enfield Class 350cc in front of a house at 10pm on June 28. When he returned at 8.30am on June 29, the bike was nowhere to be seen.

At 8.30pm on June 28, 21-year-old Lakshmikanth parked his TVS Victor inside the parking lot of BDA shopping complex in Sector 6. When he returned two days later at 9am, it was missing. This goes to show that even parking spots are not safe if you keep your bikes overnight.

On July 3 at around 1030am, Nitesh Kumar (21 years) parked his Honda Activa in front of Shahi Garments in Jakkasandra. When he returned the same day at around 3.30pm, the bike was missing.

On July 4 at 2pm, Prashanth Goel parked his Yamaha FZS in front of his house on 21st A Main, 15th C Cross. When he returned the next day at 1.40pm, the bike was missing from its place.

Thirty-year-old Mohd Shahbaaz was the next victim. On June 5, the resident of Chamarajpet had parked his Honda Activa in the company warehouse on 27th Main in Sector 2. When he returned a month later on July 5, the bike was missing.

On July 8 at 9am, Keshav parked his Honda Activa inside his house compound on Ellukunte main road in Sector 3. Three days later when he returned home at 6am, the the two wheeler was found stolen.

On July 9 at 12pm, Mukul Chakravarthy, a resident of Singasandra, parked his bike in front of his Bhive office. The same day at 10pm, the bike was gone.

On July 12 at 12pm, Avnish Gupta parked his Royal Enfield bike in front of his house on 7th Cross, 27th Main Road. When he returned on July 13 at 8am, it was missing from the spot.

Mohit Grover, a resident of 31st Main, Sector 1, lost his bike parked in front of his house on July 13. He discovered the theft at 5pm.
