A curious case of a landlord being beaten up by a tenant and his two friends for asking seven months of outstanding rent has come to light in Indiranagar.

Udayashankar Setty owns a house in Indiranagar 1st stage. When the 57-year-old asked his tenant Sharad Jayaprakash to clear the seven-month outstanding rent for staying in his first floor house, Setty alleges that Sharad and his wife got into a heated argument. This happened every month when he would approach them for rent.

Finally, the tenant asked the landlord to take the outstanding from the house deposit given to him. On October 21, 2019, there was a meeting to discuss Rs 85,000 as maintenance fee for the house they had rented. This time, Sharad and his two friends physically attacked him, alleges Setty, who was later admitted at KC General Hospital for treatment.

In addition, Sharad and his friends forcibly took away Rs 12 lakh cheque from Setty’s pocket. Therefore, Setty has asked the cops to take appropriate measures on his tenant and friends.

The Indiranagar police have registered six charges against the accused for criminal intimidation, intentional insult, wrongful restraint, and voluntarily causing hurt.
