Has Covaxin given magnetic powers to this Bellandur resident?

By Zahid H Javali

Watching two videos of Indians getting magnetic powers after taking the Covishield vaccine, a resident of Bellandur (KPC Layout) in Bengaluru discovered a similar capability in her this afternoon.

Jyothi KM

Jyothi KM (42), a software engineer-turned-homemaker was pleasantly surprised when she stuck Apple watch, spoon, knife, and fork on her arm. She also took a video and posted it online, much to everyone’s surprise.

“While some could not believe it, they realised the truth when I sent them the video evidence,” Jyothi told Residents Watch. “I also went on a video call with one of the journalists who called me after reading this in the group, and even they were surprised to see my magnetic powers in action. My son, daughter, husband, and my neighbour are the other eye-witnesses to this.”

However, the magnetism is not working on everyone. Both she and her husband took the Covaxin second dose on May 29, 2021. But her husband doesn’t have the same capability when she tested it out today.

While the government authorities have said that the vaccine has no metal element to cause a magnetic reaction, they have asked one such person who has attained magnetic powers after the second dose of Covishield vaccine to undergo a medical test to ascertain the reason behind the new-found ability. “One resident wondered if the Apple watch I was wearing was making me magnetic,” says Jyothi. “But I did not lose the magnetism even after I removed the watch. The magnetic properties are working on both my hands and legs too.”

The scientific fraternity is just as baffled by the sporadic news reports appearing across India. But Jyothi admits that the vaccine did boost her energy. “Whenever I took the first and second dose of the vaccine, I did have slight shoulder pain and fever,” she says. “But I was able to do all the household work and never got tired or felt like sleeping even for a bit. I had this extra boost of energy.”

Is vaccine the reason for this new-found ability? The doctors haven’t confirmed yet. But it sure is an interesting case study. As all vaccines released in the world come under “emergency use only”, there are several side effects that are yet to be known. As a regular vaccine usually takes years, and sometimes decades, before it hits the market, the purported side effects of Covid-19 vaccines will continue to grab the headlines for some time to come. However, evidence does point to the efficacy of the vaccines. Therefore, experts still recommend that taking a vaccine is the only way one can keep serious complications at bay due to the coronavirus strains.

“Everyone should get vaccinated,” says Jyothi. Copy that.

UPDATE (June 17, 2021)

When some experts quoted in the media suggested that those claiming to get magnetic powers after the vaccination should use a sanitiser on their arm, dry the area completely, and then try sticking things to themselves. Jyothi tried this as well, and the magnetism still worked. She sent us a video of a knife sticking to her fore arm. “I feel the power is now reducing in my left hand, but it still works exactly where I was injected with the vaccine,” she says.

UPDATE (Dec 5, 2023)

In December 2023, YouTube pulled the video we had uploaded on our channel, citing guideline violations as it’s going strict on medical claims unverified by the scientific community.
