Thieves of electronic goods like laptops and phones have struck no matter where you keep them, at home or inside your car. And jurisdiction is no bar. Recent thefts have occurred in Bellandur, HSR Layout and Indiranagar. However, these have happened not because the thieves broke into houses, but due to the negligence of the owners. And despite cautionary notes that nothing valuable should be kept inside cars when you park them in public places, even for a few seconds, no one seems to care, only to realise the mistake at a significant cost.

HSR LAYOUT
On December 20, 41-year-old Vinay fell victim to another laptop theft. This time it was the expensive Apple MacBook from inside the car. He had parked his Mahindra car in front of McDonald’s signal in Sector 7 of HSR Layout. Some miscreant had smashed the glass on the passenger side of the car and stolen his laptop. The resident of Bommanahalli has requested the police to nail the culprit by alleging that the incident occurred between 6.45pm and 7pm.

INDIRANAGAR
On December 16, thieves entered a house on the first floor of a building on 1st Main, LBS Layout, Indiranagar. Twenty-six-year-old Diksha has alleged that goods worth Rs 2 lakh were stolen by a thief between 8am and 8.30am when she was sleeping while keeping the door unlocked. The stolen items included a Lenovo laptop, One Plus 5 phone, wallet with Rs 100 cash, two debit cards, one credit card, Aadhaar and Pan card, among others. The cops have registered a case of theft and are investigating.

BELLANDUR
