Six women aged between 26 and 40 years were rescued after a raid at an illegal spa in HSR Layout. Announcing the news, Sandeep Patil, joint commissioner of police (crime) tweeted: “Illegal Thai spa & massage centre raided at HSR layout.. 2 accused arrested.”
On a tip off, the City Crime Branch (CCB) cops raided Mik Thai Spa on 9th Main in Sector 7 headed by inspector Anjumala T Nayaka of the Women’s Protection Force. After ascertaining that they were running a prostitution racket with an official masquerading as a customer, the cops arrested the two accused, Peter Sunavar and Rajkumar. However, one person Keval Tiruva is still absconding. The cops also rescued six women who were all residents of Bangalore. In addition, they seized laptops, phones, swiping machines, cash and condoms found at the spa.
The spa’s website also states that they are opening additional branches in Hubli, Aurangabad and Mumbai. Or perhaps, they have already opened them as the portal appears dated – the HSR branch was under ‘upcoming’ centres. Mik Wellness, the parent company, claims to be in this business since 2010.
SIM cards with fake docs
The same day, the CCB also raided a mobile shop in Kammanahalli as the owner was found selling SIM cards based on fake verification documents. Resident Bharath Kumar said that this area is also infested with “drugs, goondaism, and traffic violators”.
